Open Dialogue (Hosted by Jack) // Agency
Details
We often talk about agency as though it were something a person has or doesn’t. But our capacity to act emerges within a landscape of constraints and possibilities shaped by our relationships, circumstances, institutions, and larger systems.
What does this mean for moral responsibility? When powerful incentives, social norms, or material conditions make some actions far easier than others, how responsible are we for the choices we make? In systems where no single actor controls the outcome, where does responsibility live?
Let’s explore agency and responsibility as contextual, relational, and (potentially) distributed phenomena.
This conversation will be free-form, which means it might meander into adjacent topics. No need to prepare or bring anything but your curiosity and an open mind.
