Reforming Our Relationship with the Natural World
Details
"This span of earth is but one homeland, one habitation. It behooveth you to abandon vain glory which causeth alienation and to set your hearts on whatever will ensure harmony.” – From the Bahá’í Writings
It seems self-evident that while many of us love nature, and love this earth, our relationship with the natural world is not healthy and is increasingly looking unsustainable. It also seems almost self-evident that how we, as a society, are currently living with nature is not leading to our happiness.
“We need to redefine what we understand by value and wealth to prioritize nature over money. A shift in how we define wealth could be part of the solution: collectively realizing that nature is wealth and that financial wealth brings little advantage on an uninhabitable planet. This is the place we see the reframing of our relationship with nature potentially providing a north star.” – From ashoka.org
In this conversation, we will discuss what large and small shifts would need to take place in our many human cultures and in our own minds and hearts in order to create and sustain a healthy relationship with nature and the planet.
Please join us as we discuss these questions and explore our relationship with the natural world. Our conversation will be guided by the sacred Writings of the Baha’i Faith, the most recent independent world religion and other sources of inspiration. All backgrounds, races, nationalities and religions are welcome!
