We are sitting INSIDE during the remainder of the hotter/ stormier months. When in doubt, just ask a server where Drinking Liberally is (typically at a row of tables between the stairway and the bar).
By all accounts (meaning, the ones I've read) Trump did not surprise anyone with his lack of decorum and tact at the UN. He stated that Cuba is basically done, threatened to obliterate Iran, chastised Kaitlan Collins for having the audacity to be covering the UN goings-on as per her JOB at CNN - because she doesn't "kiss the ring". Meanwhile diesel prices in the US average $6.53 per gallon and set a new record most every day, gasoline averages $4.48, inflation before the Iran war was started (to distract from the Trump-Epstein files, perhaps?) was 2.4% and now is about 3.4% (as per the AP News Inflation Report), and unemployment sits at 4.1% (7 million unemployed).
We shall see what the midterms bring, but above all else, please VOTE! It DOES matter. I believe that voting is the single greatest collective action we can take. Imagine if the Dems had a solid majority in the House and the Senate, and could then win the presidency in the 2028 election. It will take decades to regain respect from other countries after the petulant outbursts of the current White House resident, but we need to be able to start to reverse the tragic damage that has been done.
Please note that several "regulars" show up most weeks and therefore do not RSVP (most weeks we have 10 or more folks - it varies) . Don't worry if you are new and only see a few RSVPs if you look at Meetup :) Anyone is welcome (as long as they are civil), and we talk about pretty much ANYthing -- some of which is political and plenty that is just life in general :)
