● 飯盛山 (Mt. Meshimori/ Mt. Ōmori/ Mt. Hirasawa) Hiking

Let’s enjoy a hike to the mountains that offer a world-class panorama of the vast Yatsugatake Range, the Southern Alps, and Mt. Fuji, while chatting in English!  After the hike, you can explore tourist spots, souvenir shops and dining spots around Kiyosato Station, or unwind at a hot spring to soothe your tired legs and body.

Elevation: 1643 m (Mt. Meshimori summit)
Ascend: 520m / Descend: 590 m
Total Hike Distance: 10.6 km
Total Hike Time: About 5.0 hours (including lunch break: 60min)
Difficulty: Moderate (ideal for beginner to intermediate hikers)
★ Highlights ★
Panoramic Views: The mountain is well known for its breathtaking views of Mt. Fuji, the Southern Alps, Yatsugatake Range and Okuchichibu peaks. On clear days, hikers are rewarded with sweeping vistas.
Gentle Trails: The hike is not extremely steep, and many trails are suitable for beginners or casual hikers. Families and groups often enjoy walking along the wide ridges.
Origin of the name: Mt. Meshimori was named because its treeless summit resembles a bowl of rice heaped up.
Kiyosato Station: The area in front of Kiyosato Station is filled with souvenir shops and dining spots, offering a charming streetscape found only in Kiyosato.
● Participation Fee: 800 yen
(Paid in cash at Nobeyama Station on JR Koumi Line. This covers only organizing and planning costs)
■ Additional Costs (not included in the event fee):

  • Your own lunch, drinks, snacks, etc.
  • Train fare to Nobeyama Station and back.
  • Optional: Hot Spring (Panorama no Yu, 850 yen)

● Meeting Details

  • Time: 10:00 AM
  • Location: Nobeyama Station (JR Koumi Line)  野辺山駅 小海線

Please note: Trains from Obuchizawa to Nobeyama come only every hour and a half.

● What to Wear

  • Comfortable clothes (expected summit temperature: 15~23℃)
  • Proper hiking shoes required!
    No sneakers, running shoes, or casual footwear
  • Light jacket (optional, mornings may be chilly)

● What to Bring

  • Sun, heat, and rain protection (e.g., hat, sunscreen, rainwear)
  • Drinks
  • Lunch & snacks
  • Towels
  • Plastic bags for trash/wet clothes
  • A change of clothes to wear after the hot spring

Restrooms are available in some of the mountain huts.

● Approximate Schedule

  • 10:00 AM — Meet at Nobeyama Station (JR. Koumi Line) (only one exit)
  • 10:15 AM — final preparations, start hiking
  • 12:30 PM — Arrival at the summit of Mt. Meshimori — enjoy lunch together in the panoramic area (about 60 minutes).
  • 13:30 PM — Start descending toward Kiyosato Station.
  • 3:30 PM — Finish hike. You can explore Kiyosato area.
  • 3:45 PM / 4:32 PM — Those who want to go to the hot spring, take the train to Kai-Ōizumi Station.
  • Visit Panorama no Yu (hot spring).
