● Mt. Mizugaki Hiking — one of Japan’s 100 Famous Mountains (百名山). Breathtaking views from the summit!
Let’s enjoy a colorful autumn adventure to Mt. Mizugaki (2,230m), one of the most stunning peaks in the Okuchichibu Mountains, famous for its dramatic granite rock formations and breathtaking autumn foliage while chatting in English.
Location: Nagano & Yamanashi border, Chichibu-Tama-Kai National Park
Elevation: 2,230 meters
Elevation Gain: 928 meters
Total Hike Distance: 5.5 km
Total Hike Time: About 6 to 6.5 hours
Lunch at the Summit: About 50 minutes
Difficulty: Moderate (ideal for intermediate hikers)
★ Highlights ★
- Spectacular Granite Peaks: Mizugaki is famous for its rugged granite rock formations that tower dramatically into the sky.
- Panoramic Views: On clear days, you can enjoy breathtaking scenery of the Southern Alps, Yatsugatake, and even Mt. Fuji.
- Lush Forest Trails: The trail passes through rich beech and larch forests, offering beautiful colors in autumn.
- Unique Atmosphere: The rocky summit area gives a sense of adventure and makes Mizugaki one of the most iconic peaks in the Kanto/Chubu region.
● Participation Fee: 3,500 yen
(Paid in advance by cash or via PayPay 5days before the hike. The fee only covers car sharing, auto insurance, rental car fee, fuel, tolls and planning. )

- Train fare to/from Nirasaki Station
● Meeting Details
- Time: 8:35 AM
- Location: at the ticket gate of JR Nirasaki Station (Chuo Main Line)
We will rent a car near Nirasaki Station and drive to the trailhead (about a 1-hour drive).
● What to Wear
- Comfortable seasonal clothes (expected temperature ℃ - ℃ )
- Proper hiking shoes are required
→ No sneakers, running shoes, or casual footwear - a warm jacket, gloves, a cap or a hat, windbreaker, etc. ) — expected to be chilly at higher elevations
● What to Bring
- Rain protection (e.g., rain jacket / rain pants / pack cover)
- Seasonal gear (disposable hand warmers, etc.)
- Drinks
- Lunch & snacks
- Towels ( for sweat and for the hot spring)
- Dry clothes to change into after the hot spring)
- Plastic bags for wet clothes and trash
Note: Toilets are only available at trailhead and Fujimidaira hut along the trail). There are no toilets at the summit.
After the hike, we can visit a hot spring ( a natural hot spring and pool on the way back to the station — perfect for soaking and relaxing your tired legs!)
● Approximate Schedule
- 8:35 AM — Meet at Nirasaki Station Ticket Gate
- 8:40 AM — Depart by rental car to Mizugaki Sanso parking lot
- 9:35 AM — Arrive at trailhead parking lot, final prep, start hiking
- 12:50 PM — Reach the summit, enjoy lunch and rest (50 minutes)
- 1:40 PM — Start descending
- 4:00 PM — Finish hike
- 4:15 PM — Drive towards Nirasaki Station
- 5:00 PM — Optional: Yū-Pool Nirasaki (Hot spring)

Your participation will be confirmed once the organizer has verified your payment and contacted you. Please note that unpaid participation fees mean your registration will not be valid.
In case of cancellation, please notify us as early as possible. Refunds are only available if a replacement participant is found, and will be issued as amount paid minus handling fees.
