Wednesday Evening Walk 21 May Flixton 3 Miles

The Wednesday evening walk on 21st May is an easy 3 mile circular (approx). We pass by a pretty pond, walk through some established woods and cut through a nature reserve. You may spot some interesting birds like a Peregrine Falcon, a Moorhen, a Great Spotted Woodpecker, a Cuckoo and others, so bring your binoculars!

· Meet at Brooklands 06:50pm for a 6:55pm departure (car share where possible please)
· Walks starts at 7:20pm from the west end of Ambleside Road, Flixton M41 6PL

· No toilets, but woods/trees/bushes on the route

Getting There
As you approach Flixton train station (on your right), follow the road over the hump back bridge and immediately take the next left onto Ambleside Road. Drive down to the bottom, as far as you can, and park.

Walk Summary

This is a fairly flat walk, with two small ascents of about 50 feet each. The paths are generally good throughout (some wide, some narrow), with a couple of kissing gates and a couple of easy stiles.

Risks
There are tree roots and perished wooden path stumps in places, and maybe a few stray branches to be aware of. We will possibly encounter some horses in two of the fields.

Dogs
Dogs welcome, but please put on a lead where livestock present and/or if under people’s feet.

Post Walk Drinks
Drinks at the Church Inn afterwards. Address: 34 Church Rd, Urmston, Manchester M41 6HS. This is a 2-minute drive from the start/end of the walk. As you leave Ambleside Road turn right, go over the bridge for Flixton Road train station and take the first left after the petrol station. The pub is about 30yds on the right. A car park is on site or there is free/unrestricted road parking.

Football
The Europa League Final (Man U v Tottenham) is being held on 21st May. The kick-off is 8pm and it will be televised at the pub. There is a very large outdoor screen at the pub (and several tv’s inside) and lots of outdoor seating. It may be quite busy, but we are very welcome to pop over for drinks and to see the end of the match.
