Wednesday 16 July Evening Walk Etherow 4 Miles

PLEASE NOTE THAT MOST MEMBERS OF THIS GROUP ARE NOT ON MEETUP HENCE THERE WILL BE FEW LISTED HERE, ALL WALKS ARE VERY POPULAR

ETHEROW COUNTRY PARK 3.5 miles, Elevation is 396 feet, approx 1hr 45m.
It has a mixture of paths by waterside and through the woods. The walk begins and ends on the flat but approximately 2 miles of the walk are undulating with 5 short steep uphill sections, some downhill and some more flat. There is a mixture of well-defined paths and some rough tracks which have been narrowed by the vegetation and will require single file walking. Tree roots, and a couple of small stumps on route could be a tripping hazard.
You may prefer to take walking poles to help with the more uneven tracks. sections, and inclines and descents.
There are toilets at the start of the walk. Dogs are welcome on the walk if they are on a short lead because of the wildlife.
Post walk drinks will be at the Andrew Arms, Compstall.
Meet at Brookland Station 6.45pm to coordinate lifts. We will leave the station at 6.55pm - the journey should take around 25 minutes.
If you are going directly to the start please text me, and be there for 7.20pm.
Walk start time 7.30pm promptly from Etherow Car park.
Car Parking is Pay & Display: You can pay with cash, or by mobile using the RingGo app. Location is 15029
Charges: Up to 2 hours £1.40, up to 4 hours £2.60. Charges are now applicable until 10pm.

The walk should take approx 1hr 45mins. 2 hours parking might be pushing it, but that will depend on how long before the start of the walk you arrive at the car park. If you pay the £2.60 it will cover you whilst you are in the pub. The pub car park is relatively small.

· Take your preferred route to the M60 and head anticlockwise towards Stockport.
· Leave the M60 at Junction 25 signed Bredbury A560
· At the roundabout take the 2nd exit onto Crookilley Way/A560 and immediately move into the right-hand lane
· Take the 2nd exit (right) onto Ashton Road/A560
· Continue passed MacDonalds
· Turn left onto Stockport Rd/ A560
· AT the 2nd set of lights, turn right onto Lower Bents Lane /A6017
· Follow this road straight on for 3 miles through Romiley, and into Compstall.
· When you reach a sharp right bend, and the road starts to wind left and right, descending into Compstall, you are very close to the car park.
· When you see yellow bollards ahead, slow down and turn left into George Street. You can easily miss it.
· The main car park is on the right.
DIRECTIONS TO the Andrew Arms, George St, Compstall
Leave Etherow car park, turning right onto George St and follow the road round to the left. The pub is on the left with a small car park opposite (2 minutes walk)
