Sunday 21 Sept Rowsley Walk 10 Miles

Details
PLEASE NOTE THAT FEW MEMBERS OF THIS GROUP ARE ON MEETUP THEREFORE THERE WILL BE FEW ATTENDEES LISTED.
ALL WALKS ARE HOWEVER VERY POPULAR.
Here are details of my walk from Rowsley on Sunday.
Meet at Brooklands in time to leave for 9.30 am, or at the start point at 10.45.
The starting point will be the same one as my Rowsley walk last year although we only had 5 people due to storm Ashley.
This time we will be doing a loop to the north, following the River Wye as far as Bakewell, then heading North East towards Edensor where there are views of Chatsworth House, we will then follow the River Derwent back to Rowsley.
The walk is 10 miles, grade C.
There are about 550 metres of ascent/descent. Most paths are well surfaced, although there is an uphill stretch through some woods which has some rocks and tree roots and might be tricky if wet. There is also a board walk with some planks missing, and a narrow footbridge with only one handrail which requires some care. There is also some mud and nettles.
It shouldn't be a problem for the regular long walkers.
The directions are as follows:
- Follow A555 , then turn right onto A6 to Buxton
- Stay on A6 through Buxton (left at the roundabout at the bottom of the hill then straight on at the roundabout by Morrison’s.)
- Follow the A6 for a further 14 miles,to Rowsley
- In Rowsley, cross the bridge, pass the Grouse and Claret (on the left) and take the next right (blue car park sign), and then immediately right again into the free car park. If you pass the entrance to the Peak Village Shopping Complex you have gone too far.
