The short walk on Sunday is yet another scenic circular route, approx 5.5 miles.
MEET Brooklands 10:00am for car shares, departing latest at 10:10am
START 11:00am from the bus stop to the right of the Royal Arms Pub, Tockholes Rd, Tockholes, Darwen BB3 0PA

DISTANCE Approx 5.5 mile circular (I may adjust depending on how muddy it might be)
ASCENT Total ascent and descent of 650ft
GRADE D/E
Approx 24 miles/38 min drive from Brooklands.
Free parking area - please use the area in front of the bus stop, or the free public car park at the back of the pub car park.
Walk Summary
We will descend from the car park into some mature woods, amble alongside a reservoir and stop for coffee. We continue along the path of a stream and then ascend to some ruins where we will stop for lunch. We will then continue on a gentle ascent up to a height of 1119 ft/340mts (with great views) before looping back to the cars. The paths/tracks are generally good and well-trodden. There are some steps to navigate, if we use those routes. No stiles. Quite a few gates.
Risks
Some of the paths may be a bit muddy/slippy in places due to the recent wet weather.
Dogs
Suitable for dogs (lots of dog walking in the area), but please put on a lead if they are under people’s feet. There may be livestock on the hills so leads will apply in those areas.
Toilets
We can use the toilets in the pub café before our walk (adjacent to the pub, not the café standing behind the bus stop). No toilets on route, but plenty of trees and bushes.
Food/Drink Stops
I have planned for a coffee stop, then a lunch stop later on. Both with seating
Post Walk Food/Drinks
There is a pub and a café at the end of our walk if your require further refreshments (a CAMRA pub I believe). I’ve spoken with the manager in The Royal Arms and if we let them know how many would like to book for lunch, on the morning of our walk, then they will set up a table and reserve it for us. They do a roast dinner for £15.95. See attached menus.

Weather
The weather forecast isn’t great at the minute, but it has been very changeable over the last three weeks. Hopefully it will change for the better come Sunday. If the weather is too poor, I can shorten the walk.
