Chester Sunday walk, 8 miles, Grade E

Meet Brooklands at 9.50 am for car share, for a 10 am departure or at Boughton Heath Park and Ride (CH3 5QD)at 11 am ready to start the walk at 11.15am.

The circular walk will begin from Boughton Heath Park and Ride at 11.15am, along the Shropshire and Union canal into Chester City centre. It will then traverse the city walls to the river, over the bridge, and around Chester Meadows . It encompasses woodland, pastures and tow paths. It will be muddy in places so sturdy walking boots required. The City walls have steep steps in places so poles may be required

Refreshments afterwards at the Old Harkers Arms (1 Russell Street, Chester, Cheshire, CH3 5AL) before the canal walk back to the Park and Ride car park.

Directions from Brooklands:

• Start: Brooklands Tram Stop (M23 9JA).
• Head southwest on Brooklands Rd/B5165 toward Marsland Rd.
• Continue to follow Brooklands Rd.
• Turn right onto Shaftesbury Ave/A560.
• At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto Dunham Rd/A56.
• Continue on A56 to reach Bowdon Roundabout.
• At Bowdon roundabout 2nd exit onto A556
