We will be meeting at Foolow for a 10 mile grade E walk.

This is my entry for the competition for the walk with the daftest names.

We will be going up Silly Dale (fancy dress optional!) across Shatton moor where we can look down on Shatton village, then return to Foolow crossing the Siney Sitch stream.

Total ascent/descent 420 metres (about 1375 feet).

There will be stiles, steep uphill and downhill sections which may be muddy, and some stretches with a steep drop down on one side, so poles are recommended. Some stream crossings which we had to pick our way across carefully when we recce'd it, some low hanging branches across the path and some road walking along quiet country roads. We also saw some signs warning of cows with calves in fields (we didn't actually see any, but no dogs please).

Please meet at Brooklands in time to leave at 9.00am, or the start point at 10.15am.

  1. Follow A555 , then turn right onto the A6 towards Buxton.
  2. Stay on A6 along the dual carriageway Whaley Bridge and Chapel –en –le Frith bypass, then take the first exit at the roundabout onto the A623 towards Baslow. Turn right at the sharp hair pin bend at Sparrowpit, then after a further four miles watch out for the Yondermann cafe on the right, then take the next left (and then left again) into Foolow.
  3. There is plenty of roadside parking in Foolow, bear left by the Bulls Head Inn we will meet near the war memorial.
