Walk grade – F
The walk visits several erstwhile industrial sites from the Lancashire coalfield, now repurposed as country parks and nature reserves. We walk west from the country park to Sutton Manor Country Park (former colliery) and visit the Dream statue. Then we head north east through Clock Face village and onward to Bold Moss, where we turn south through Wheatacre Wood before we finally head back west to return to the car park through Clock Face Country Park.
Coffee and lunch breaks planned.
Easy terrain, generally good paths. 300 feet total ascent. Possibility of some mud & tree roots in places. 6 road crossings with care needed.

35 minutes drive to start point. If going direct please be there by 10.20. We will start the walk at 10.30.
Directions
From Sale take M60 Manchester Orbital clockwise to J12, then follow M62 Liverpool.
Exit M62 at J8. Take 5th turning off roundabout following signs to Omega Business Park & Burtonwood. Straight on at next roundabout in 100 yds.
In approx. 1 mile (in Burtonwood village) turn L onto Gorsey Lane (playing fields on far corner as you turn).
Follow for approx. 2 miles. The entrance to the Country Park is not signed in advance. It is opposite a small modern housing development where there is a bollard in the centre of the road. Turn L into the country park car park 50 yds after passing the bollard.
