Rueda de Casino Class
Details
Rueda de Casino is a style of salsa that originated in Cuba and has now become popular all over the world, especially Miami. It is dancing in couples in a circle and a "Caller" calls out moves for everyone to do together. And we change partners every 10 seconds (or so)! It's like salsa meet square dancing (but cooler), or Salsa Simon Says. It's a lot of fun! And it's a great way to build your repertory of moves since every sequence of moves has a name to remember. We will have a syllabus to move up in the circles, so you can learn at your own pace. We dance this when ever we have 4 or more people who know the moves. Catch us at Embargo on Thursday nights.
Requirements: You should be familiar with the basic step in salsa. If you already have experience in Rueda, you may be able to join our Intermediate circle. (Only dance shoes or socks are allowed in the studio.)
We offer this class every Saturday from 10:30 to 11:30am at the Events in Motion Studio in Irving: 3401 West Airport Freeway at the corner of Beltline above Half Price Books. Join us anytime.
Cost: $10 drop in, rolling enrollment.
(Cash or check)
Our experience: You may want to know who you're learning from.... Katie and Frederic both started salsa classes in Rueda de Casino over 6 years ago. Frederic has danced and performed with Salsa Kings in Miami, and Katie with Sabrosura in North Carolina and the MIT Casino Rueda group in Boston. Both of us have taught Rueda extensively, and we are happy to keep it going in DFW.
