Coding Dojo (instead of Building AI Agents in Microsoft Copilot Studio)
Details
## What to set up ahead of the meetup
Unfortunately we need to run an Coding Dojo today, instead of the orginally planned content.
Please bring a laptop with a development environment, including a test-framework, in the programming language of your preference. Prepared means: A few mouse clicks or key-shortcuts, and a dummy-unit test is green. For reference, you can take one of these template projects:
- Java, C#, Typescript, Kotlin, C++, JavaScript or Go
Then we will form pairs and solve a small coding challenge in the Meetup.
Original Topic/Content:
Please ensure you have access to Microsoft Copilot Studio before the meetup.
- Navigate to https://copilotstudio.microsoft.com
- If you can sign in without errors, no further action is required.
- If access fails, try starting a 30-day Copilot Studio trial using a work or school account at:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365-copilot/microsoft-copilot-studio/
- Note: Some organizations block Power Platform trials.
- If that fails, you can attempt to join the Microsoft 365 Developer Program (personal account):
https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/dev-program
- If a developer tenant is provisioned, activate the Copilot Studio trial there.
- Sandbox provisioning is not guaranteed.
- If none of the above options work, please reach out in advance. We will pair participants who do not have access with someone who does.
What to expect at the meetup
This hands-on session explores how an AI agent’s behavior evolves from simple user commands toward more structured interaction and execution contracts. Attendees will work directly within the Copilot Studio environment to observe these changes in practice.
We use Copilot Studio because it brings data, workflow, reasoning, UI, and identity together in a single environment, making it well suited for hands-on exploration.
Requirements
- No prior experience with Copilot Studio is required
- Access to https://copilotstudio.microsoft.com is required
(Trial signup is available but may be restricted by organizational policies.) See more information above.
This session is designed for developers, architects, and system designers who want to experiment with AI agent behavior in a live system.
