Less Chatting, More Acting: From LLMs to Agents @ Red Bull

We are all familiar with ChatGPT doing a websearch or our coding agents editing our files. But how does that actually work? LLMs are text in, text out, right? We'll get hands-on with the core mechanism that turns an LLM into an agent, and pull out practical insights for anyone working with such systems.

This session will start with some background knowledge on LLMs and Agents so we have a clear understanding of the necessary mechanism and tools to implement this. Then we will start from a simple project that has a very simple chat interface with an LLM (local or remote) already implemented. The main task will be to take that and extend it such that the LLM is capable of calling pre-defined tools. Let's see if we can enable a tiny local LLM with smart tooling to answer questions that are too difficult for ChatGPT...
