In this meetup edition we will learn how to use Agent Skills for building the factory that builds your software.

What will we do?

Instead of building it ourselves, we will specify everything from architecture or coding conventions to external tool references such that coding agents become capable of building and extending a system in a way that meets our requirements, expectations, and vision.

Know what you want to build? Tell the agent and watch it fail. Figure out the capability it was missing, write a skill for it, try again. Repeat.

We will also look at the Progressive Disclosure mechanism that powers Agent Skills, and how it allows coding agents to fill their limited context window with the right information at the right time.

For those who want to come prepared

  • Bring an IDE* and coding agent** of your choice (any agent will do, free tiers and cheap models are perfectly fine)
  • Good to have: Github account, Git CLI, up-to-date node.js installation
  • Create a new repo from Emily Bache’s Gilded Rose Refactoring Kata template (Use this template -> Create new repository) and have it ready to go in a language of your choice
  • Any other repo you're comfortable working in will also work

*Recommended: VSCode, VSCode Insiders Sessions
**Recommended: Github Copilot, Claude Code
