Street epistemology (SE) is a non-confrontational approach to discussing religious and philosophical beliefs. The philosophy behind this technique is that people are more likely to change their beliefs when they feel heard and respected. SE has a wide range of approaches, with no particular method being the definitive “right way” to do it. Anybody can do street epistemology. In fact, you more than likely do it every day and don’t even realize it.

The group will meet monthly to discuss street epistemology techniques, practice them in a safe and supportive environment, and put them into action with the public at our street location. Calvin will lead the group and provide guidance and support.

SE is a conversational style of discussion to get to the basis of belief, typically used on strangers or people you have good rapport with. To participate, you must be comfortable speaking with strangers, and grabbing their attention to WANT to speak to you. Street Epistemology is a conversation, not a debate. Ideally, every conversations should end with a hug or a handshake.

The group is open to anyone who is interested in learning more about street epistemology or who wants to practice their skills.
