Pride Month Spotlight Session 🏳️‍🌈

Welcome to our book-loving corner of the internet—and a special hello to any new faces visiting our group! This month, in celebration of Pride, we’re hosting a special “Spotlight Session” (our version of an off-season meetup) on Tuesday, June 24 at 5:30 PM at Thai Dee Restaurant, a cozy, delicious Thai restaurant here in San Antonio. We’ll still have our regular June and July book discussions, but this bonus gathering is all about community, storytelling, and queer joy.

Rather than focus on a single title, this event will be a conversational “Show & Tell”—everyone is encouraged to bring a book (or just a strong recommendation!) that speaks to LGBTQ+ identity. Come ready to share what the book meant to you and why you’d recommend it to others. All genres, styles, and perspectives are welcome!

As we recognize Pride Month, it’s also a chance to reflect on the literary voices that shape our stories. From Felice Picano and Edmund White, to Ocean Vuong, Christos Tsiolkas, John Boyne, and more, queer authors have been helping us understand ourselves—and each other—for generations. While our group tends to focus on gay male perspectives, this event is a chance to consider the broader stories that inform the queer experience.

So far in 2025, we’ve read The Velvet Rage, Lie With Me, Loaded, The Heart’s Invisible Furies, I Have Something To Tell You, and On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous. Our conversations have touched on nationalism, psychology, aging, identity, language, and so much more. If you’re curious about our club or thinking of joining, this is the perfect way to dip your toe in!
