Pride Month Spotlight Session đłď¸âđ

Details
Welcome to our book-loving corner of the internetâand a special hello to any new faces visiting our group! This month, in celebration of Pride, weâre hosting a special âSpotlight Sessionâ (our version of an off-season meetup) on Tuesday, June 24 at 5:30 PM at Thai Dee Restaurant, a cozy, delicious Thai restaurant here in San Antonio. Weâll still have our regular June and July book discussions, but this bonus gathering is all about community, storytelling, and queer joy.
Rather than focus on a single title, this event will be a conversational âShow & Tellââeveryone is encouraged to bring a book (or just a strong recommendation!) that speaks to LGBTQ+ identity. Come ready to share what the book meant to you and why youâd recommend it to others. All genres, styles, and perspectives are welcome!
As we recognize Pride Month, itâs also a chance to reflect on the literary voices that shape our stories. From Felice Picano and Edmund White, to Ocean Vuong, Christos Tsiolkas, John Boyne, and more, queer authors have been helping us understand ourselvesâand each otherâfor generations. While our group tends to focus on gay male perspectives, this event is a chance to consider the broader stories that inform the queer experience.
So far in 2025, weâve read The Velvet Rage, Lie With Me, Loaded, The Heartâs Invisible Furies, I Have Something To Tell You, and On Earth Weâre Briefly Gorgeous. Our conversations have touched on nationalism, psychology, aging, identity, language, and so much more. If youâre curious about our club or thinking of joining, this is the perfect way to dip your toe in!
⨠NOTE: We have a hard cap of 15 people for this event due to venue limitations. RSVP early to guarantee your spot! Weâll maintain a waitlist and update this page as things shift.
Weâre a fun-loving, thoughtful group, and weâd love to meet you. Join us in celebrating Pride, stories, and one another!
