City Nature Challenge-iNaturalist at Cibolo Creek Ranch

Perfect place to make flora and fauna observations for iNaturalist City Nature Challenge 2023 - San Antonio Metro Area! Cibolo Creek Ranch- part of TPWD’s Great Texas Wildlife Trail and one of Texas Parks Wildlife Dept. -Great Texas Wildlife Trails in Bexar County (borders Comal County). Cibolo Creek Ranch is a private 211-acre ranch with limestone cliffs bordering this ranch offers the chance to see a diversity of native plants and animals typical of the region. Habitats include pecan orchards, mixed riparian woodlands and fields of native grasses and wildflowers. In the meadows and open areas, listen or look for singing Dickcissel, Eastern Bluebird, Bewick's Wren, Western Kingbird, Scissor-tailed Flycatcher and Lesser Goldfinch. Northern Bobwhite and Wild Turkey can also be seen. In the wooded areas, look for buntings and woodpeckers. Fossils can be found along the dry creek bed. Trail are natural trails the run to the Cibolo Creek and the ranch house. Texas Master Naturalist members will be hosting this City Nature Challenge Event open to the public. Especially NPSOT and Audubon Members to enjoy the hill country charm and wildlife. May 1st 2023 - 10 am to 4pm

• Gate opens at 10am. Sign in at the main house. Briefing and Intro (Ranch Safety). Start and leave on your time.
• Please check out at the main house . Gate Closes at 4pm. Bring your lunch /relax by the Ranch house patio area.

Location: Cibolo Creek Ranch (Gate entrance at : 1410 Obst Rd, Bulverde, TX) GPS : 29.7374 -98.4703. Turn into a private dirt road, pass creek bridge. Main house up private dirt road for 1/2 mile.

Safety
The ranch trails are natural surfaces so please wear sturdy shoes with no open toe, bring water, sun protection, and dress appropriate for the day. Best if visitors stay in groups of 2 or more. Stay with your walking group on trails. Natural Trails are marked.
