This guided experience offers a unique opportunity to explore a rarely accessible natural area for those contributing observations to City Nature Challenge 2026(see cnc-sa.org) We are grateful to our event leader, Wendy Leonard (Assistant Manager, San Antonio Natural Areas), who will guide us to prime vegetation areas and scenic viewpoints. What to Expect: A Hill Country setting in Grey Forest with rocky, uneven terrain. Some light climbing may be required.
What to Bring / Wear:
• Sturdy hiking boots or shoes
• Walking stick(s) (recommended)
• Long pants and long-sleeved shirts
• Bug protection (chiggers and ticks may be present)
• Plenty of water (required for this ~2-hour outing due to heat and humidity)
