Arboretum San Antonio Stewardship Team: Invasive Species Removal
Details
Join us on the 3rd Saturday of the month from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM for an invasive species removal workday at Arboretum San Antonio.
This is a joint stewardship effort with the Alamo Area and Guadalupe Texas Master Naturalist Chapters and Native Plant Society of Texas, with support from community volunteers and partner organizations. Volunteers will help restore habitat along Salado Creek by removing invasive plants, assisting with litter cleanup, and supporting ongoing stewardship of this important natural area.
Primary focus species include Chinaberry tree and Glossy Privet along Salado Creek, along with other invasive species identified on-site. Additional Arboretum stewardship projects are also in development, including the Pollinator Garden and future trail-building efforts.
Each event begins with a brief introduction, safety briefing, and work overview before volunteers move to the work area.
Activity Schedule:
9:00 AM–11:00 AM — Invasive Species Removal
Optional after 11:00 AM — Nature walk and survey of the next site for invasive removal
What to Bring / Expect:
Closed-toe shoes or boots are required. Long pants and long sleeves are recommended. Please bring your own work gloves, reusable water bottle, and loppers if available.
