Kick Off Party City Nature Challenge

A guided nature walk, a hands-on iNaturalist demo, and a blacklight experience after sunset — all in one Friday night.
Join us as we kick off the 2026 City Nature Challenge across our 12-county region.
We'll kick off with a quick look at how iNaturalist makes exploring nature exciting and how your observations help protect wildlife across the region. Then we jump into a hands-on demo and head out on a guided nature walk to start making observations together — and once the sun goes down, we set up black lights to see what comes out after dark. (Spoiler: it's a lot.)
Food and drinks provided. No experience needed — just bring your phone, a filled water bottle, comfortable walking shoes, and a flashlight or headlamp for the evening. Download the free iNaturalist app before you arrive.
