What we’re about
It has been brought to the attention of many in SoCal that there lacks a 30s and 40s (and early 50s) group or environment in the city, especially for singles. Most of the meetup events cater to people in their 20s and 30s (usually 20s to early 30s)...and the other events skew toward those who are much older, and those attendees can be the majority of those events, alienating those in their 30s and 40s. But there is really nothing for people in that middle area of life in SoCal. So this group is to help those with events catering specifically to that demographic.
I have run several other groups in the past so many of you might already know me, others of you might know each other, so feel free to make new members feel welcomed.
These events will be organic, with no cheesy icebreakers, no tacky name tags, no jealous hosts telling you who you can and cannot talk to at the events...no outdated speed dating events either that belong back in the 2000s. Just regular conversation and getting to know one another like in real life.
By signing up for the events you agree to the following terms:
1.) Our mission is to provide the best possible environments that foster socializing and getting together with those people you meet at the events, but outside of the events.
2.) We will be trying to balance out the ratio and capacity of members attending each event. So there is a more 50/50 balance to make the events less awkward or overwhelming. Each event will be waitlisted until approved to attend to balance things out. So as a result, there will be a no-flake policy: if you RSVP and do not show up, you are taking away from someone else's spot and will be removed from the group. Also, many businesses have limited capacity, so if you did not RSVP you CANNOT show up to the event randomly; no exceptions!
3.) Any (added plus 1 guest) is not allowed; if you want to bring someone else to the event, they will need to RSVP separately so we know who is showing up to balance the ratio of attendees and keep the events safe.
4.) We ask that you be respectful of other attendees. Don't be rude to other guests or harass anyone or you will be removed from the group. Gossiping about other members will also get you removed from the group as well.
5.) We ask that you DO NOT message other members from this group that you have not already met in person at our events first, that is not only creepy it is considered harassment and the organizers can see your messages anyways so you will be removed from the group if this is violated.
6.) Photos or video recording will NOT be tolerated or allowed at any of these events.
Liability Disclosure - The sole function of the organizers in this group is to arrange a place and time for each event. Each person (including guest members) who signs up "yes" for an event is responsible for his or her own safety, and transportation for each event. When you sign up for this group you agree the organizer is NOT liable for any injury, loss, or damage to you or your property, arising directly or as a consequence from a group activity.
