We’re looking for Real Dog characters to be part of our new Real Dog Park series. Comedians/improv artists who love dogs and are as comfortable in costume as they are in conversation. As a Real Dog Character, you'll embody a dog (in costume), whose breed and character are tailored to your own personality. You’ll be featured in all content created by Real Dog Box, including our Real Dog Park series, leading interviews and making public appearances (in character) to promote the show and our brand. This is an in-house, long-term position.

About Real Dog Park: where dogs (who might be humans) teach humans to be real. It’s a one-hour talk show and sketch experiment set inside a surreal dog park — part satire, part therapy, part social mirror. In each episode, our host (always in costume) interviews guests who have been transformed into their Real Dog Characters — human reflections imagined as dogs. It’s a bi-weekly show recorded in studio, all in one take.

What we're looking for? Sentimental absurdism comedy. You must understand this style and philosophy; this is what we are looking for in our casting call. We want people who can shift from satire to sincerity without losing the audience’s trust or laughter.

This is an in-house role that also includes:

  • Hosting the Real Dog Park show — interviewing one guest per episode within our studio set (a stylized dog park).
  • Every day content needs (products, trending videos, etc.)
  • Performing in costume — stay in character during shoots and public appearances; embody the “Real Dog” ethos through movement, tone, and personality.
  • Promote the show — attend local events, engage with the community, and appear in social clips or teasers to drive conversation, including reenactments and other viral content.

You might be the right fit if you....

  • Have comedic timing and emotional range — you can make people laugh and then think.
  • Love performative weirdness — you’re the kind of person who’d wear a dog costume and still manage to deliver a heartfelt interview.
  • Have experience in hosting, improv, acting, or creative production.
  • Understand social media and what gets people talking, commenting, and sharing.
  • Are open, curious, and unafraid of the absurd — but always lead with empathy.

What to expect at Casting:

  • Perform a short script individually (or do a fun improv, like your favorite movie scene with a dog twist!). Your character details will be provided when you arrive.
  • If selected for the next round, perform a short improv based on a topic we provide.

Bring your energy, creativity, and love for dogs—we can’t wait to see you shine!

RSVP and send your portfolio if you have one, and social links via message.
