Today we will meet in Balboa Park at the Visitors Information Center for a tour to discover the park's historic beginnings. Balboa Park in San Diego has a history rooted in civic planning and cultural enrichment, beginning in 1868 with the designation of a 1,400-acre area as a public park. The park gained significant prominence with the 1915-1916 Panama-California Exposition, which led to the construction of many of the park's iconic buildings and spaces in a Spanish Colonial style, Meet Golden Friends for a nice leisurely walk through Balboa Park! THIS EVENT IS FREE AND IF YOU WANT TO STAY IN THE PARK LONGER, JUST KNOW THAT THE NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUM IS FREE TO RESIDENTS THAT DAY!!!
