PRESENTATION:
First, we will have a brief discussion on IEEE Senior Membership (in preparation for October Senior Member elevation event).

Next, we will ask our Consultants to form a panel and go through the "nuts and bolts" of being a consultant. We have some prepared questions to get started, but this will be highly interactive.

This discussion will be beneficial both for people considering technical consulting and for learning best practices amount our peers.

Senior member is the highest grade for which IEEE members can apply. IEEE members can self-nominate, or be nominated, for Senior Member grade.

To be eligible for application or nomination, candidates must:

• Be engineers, scientists, educators, technical executives, or originators in IEEE-designated fields
• Have experience reflecting professional maturity
• Have been in professional practice for at least ten years (with some credit for certain degrees)
• Show significant performance over a period of at least five of their years in professional practice

IEEE Consultants’ Network of San Diego (IEEE/CNSD) is an invaluable resource for consulting information and a premier source of technical talent . You will meet experienced practitioners as well as others new to consulting. Speakers discuss broad range of topics, such as taxes, marketing, finances, fee setting, software and liability insurance. The network is also a source of potential clients.

Membership in the IEEE Consultants’ Network of San Diego (IEEE/CNSD) is open to both members and non-members of the IEEE. No membership application is necessary to join, just come to our monthly meetings. Because networking is an important part of membership, we strongly encourage you to attend the monthly meetings.
