Cheers Oceaneers! OCTOBER 2025

Our main presenter is: Tim Perry, and he will be speaking about Clear Blue Sea, its history, showing the iterations of their Floating Robot for Eliminating Debris (FRED) over the years, and how the company is expanding from cleaning debris to include continuous environmental monitoring of all pollutants that affect the health of our waterways. Tim will be bringing their latest version, Micro FRED, which uses stereo cameras, computer vision, a modular payload space, and RTK GPS to enable constant monitoring of any parameter. He will also be speaking about some of their open positions, as Clear Blue Sea is a 100% volunteer organization.

Biography:
Tim Perry is the President of the Board for Clear Blue Sea, and has also served as their Chief Engineer to lead project teams through the development and integration of FRED's systems since its founding in 2016. He is a mechanical engineer and the owner of Perry Mechanical Design, a product development consultancy. He is passionate about technology, getting students involved in hands-on engineering, and buying volunteers beers at Cheers Oceaneers!
