CHEERS OCEANEERS! DECEMBER 2025
Our main presenter is Chris Kontoes, Sales Director at Del Mar Oceanographic. Chris will be talking about the role that wave-powered profiling plays in ocean observing, the need for developing Wirewalker, the problems it solves, potential applications, and what's next.
#### Chris Kontoes
Biography:
Chris is Sales Director at Del Mar Oceanographic, but don’t let that title fool you; he’s a field tech at heart. Chris has nearly a decade of eclectic field experience from his time managing a coastal oceanographic lab at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. He’s managed a wave buoy network, designed moorings and various mounting solutions, deployed instruments from large and small vessels, via SCUBA, worked with telemetry systems, and was a NOAA Marine Debris free-diver. Chris has been in industry for an additional 10yrs, providing oceanographic instrumentation sales and technical support directly for some of today's leading BlueTech manufacturers. In fact, Chris assisted DMO with both, the original integration of the Nortek Signature1000, and implementation of the RBR telemetry solution. He enjoys drawing from these experiences, as well as from close colleagues, to assist others in finding success in the field and obtaining the best measurements possible.
