Welcome to the San Diego Mahjong Club!
Are you looking for a chill group of Mahjong lovers in San Diego? You’re in the right place. We’re a friendly, inclusive club of Mahjong enthusiasts. Our primary format is Zung Jung (ZJ) (pronounced zhung young) — a balanced, beginner-friendly Mahjong variant that also has strategic depth for more experienced players. It’s similar to the Hong Kong (Cantonese) and Riichi (Japanese) styles of Mahjong. We also play both Riichi and International Mahjong, but ZJ is our go-to variant.

Join us for an exciting and challenging game of MCR, also known as Chinese Official Mahjong or International Mahjong! Everyone is welcome, but this event is designed for players already familiar with the basic rules of Mahjong.
New players are welcome to give it a try — just know that MCR is one of the more challenging Mahjong variants and has a steeper learning curve than other styles. If you’re up for the challenge, we’ll be happy to have you at the table!

This is a cash game using the Zung Jung format. A cheat sheet for this ruleset is available [here].
Waitlist: If the event is full, please sign up anyway. Additional tables will open if enough players are available and if space permits.
Location: Likely at my home or another member’s. The exact address will be shared with confirmed attendees. Since this event takes place in someone’s home, I reserve the right to refuse admission to anyone for any reason.
Stakes:
- 1 point = $0.10
- Buy-in: $50
- Any additional rules will be left up to pre-game table negotiation
