Intro to International Mahjong [Class Only, RSVP to Play Session Seperately]

This session is a warm-up and introduction to our International Mahjong (MCR) event, which begins in the hour following this class! Please also RSVP to that event.

MCR is a beautiful but challenging style of Mahjong known for its high point minimum (8 points to win) and its comprehensive list of 81 scoring patterns. The goal of this session is to help players become familiar with MCR’s unique scoring system and develop the skills needed to clear the 8-point minimum confidently.

Agenda:

• Overview of MCR rules and structure
• Introduction to the key and unique scoring patterns
• Guided practice rounds (as time allows) focused on reaching the point minimum

This event is best suited for players who already know the basic mechanics of Mahjong (drawing, discarding, forming melds, etc.) but are new to MCR. New players are absolutely welcome to observe or join in — however, if you’re looking for a more beginner-friendly introduction to Mahjong, we recommend our Mahjong Night event, which uses the easier-to-learn Zung Jung format.
