Intermediate Ride - Poway Xmas Tree

Join SDMBA President Matt Bartelt for a ride from Canyonside Park (Penasquitos) east on the Trans-County trail to the 60 ft tall Poway Chistmas Tree of Light.

All participants need to complete the SDMBA waiver at least once every 6 months. SDMBA Waiver

The ride will cover 15 miles in the DARK (lights manditory).

Post ride will be a social meetup in the parking lot. Bring your choice of post ride refreshments. Come generate a little holiday cheer with other riders. Pace will be moderate with several stops to allow for regroup. Expect a cool to cold weather night so dress appropriately.

Meet in the eastern most lot of Canyonside Park adjecent to Black Mountain road.

Ride Route- Follow the Trans-County trail east from Canyonside Park. Expect mild grades with an occational short steep climb. The final grade up to the tree is a moderate, prolonged climb on a decomposed granite path. There are numerous ruts on the climb and descent to be aware of. We will gather under the tree to enjoy the scenic overlook and the tree itself. The return will follow mostly the same path back. We will have several points where we will regroup if the group gets spread out too far.
