Trail Work - Old Lopez Road (PQ)
Details
Old Lopez Road Trail Work Day
Old Lopez Road is a ¾-mile climb out of Lopez Canyon, providing key trail access from Sorrento Mesa and West Mira Mesa. As a well-traveled route, it plays an important role in connecting riders into the Rancho Peñasquitos and Lopez Canyon trail systems.
With the 2026 SDMBA Archipelago Ride coming up in late April, this trail day will focus on getting Old Lopez Road dialed in and riding great for the event.
Due to recent growth from seasonal conditions, the primary focus of this work day will be clearing overgrowth along the canyon floor and main trail corridor. This annual tune-up helps maintain safe passage, improve sight lines, and keep this important access route open and enjoyable for everyone.
Planned Work Includes:
- Clearing brush and vegetation encroaching on the trail
- Restoring trail corridor width and visibility
- General tread maintenance as needed
Come join SDMBA and fellow trail stewards for a rewarding day giving back to a trail we all rely on!
