Announcing a new Meetup for San Diego Mountain Biking Meetup Group!

What: Los Pennasquitos Canyon West

When: Thursday, July 29,[masked]:45 PM

Where: Los Pennasquitos Canyon West
3901 Sorrento Valley Blvd
San Diego, CA 92121

This is a beginner-intermediate ride around the main trails on the north and south side of the creek. It'll be similar to the last one that I led except that we will definitely start with the old lopez road trail this time. That will be our warm-up. Then we'll ride the main trail south to Carsons Crossing and loop back on the north side. There appears to be some tight single track west of the wagon wheel crossing that I hadn't seen until a few days ago so we'll ride past wagon wheel and go explore that for a while. That part will be a good test of your balance as some of it is tight single track on the side of a hill and there are some short steep climbs that will be challenging for beginners as well. My fitness level is getting better but still questionable so expect a fairly slow pace. It is a good ride for beginners since there are no really long climbs except for lopez trail. There are lots of rolling hills and some single track but it isn't extremely technical. Some of it will be like riding on dirt roads. I'd like to be on the trail by 6pm.

Don't forget your helmet, riding gloves, bike bell, camel bak, backpack, water bottle, or whatever else you need. Obviously mountain biking can be dangerous and there are some fairly steep hills on this ride. We're all adults and we all understand the basic risks and of course we'll try and keep the group together in case someone falls or has a bike problem of some kind.

Getting there:
The location is specified so load a google map and zoom in with the aerial shots and you should see the parking lot. It doesn't have an actual address but the location that I posted was obtained from google maps.

I'll send my phone number to those that RSVP a couple of days before. Meanwhile, post comments or email me questions if you have any.
