Embracing Change at Sweetwater River Trail

Details
As the long days of summer begin to soften into the promise of fall, we return to the Sweetwater River Trail to walk once more along its winding path and to listen for what this land has to share with us now.
We first came here in winter, when the air was cool and quiet, and the trees stood bare in quiet strength.
Now, we are invited back under late-summer skies, to notice what has matured, what has weathered the heat, and what rests in stillness before the shift of season.
This trail leads us across the river, through pockets of native walnut and wild grape, and into an open meadow framed by the distant blue of the mountains.
It is a place once traveled by the native peoples of this region, who moved with the seasons in rhythm with the land—gathering, resting, and listening deeply.
As we walk, we may find ourselves walking alongside their memory, honoring the cycles of movement, presence, and return.
Before we begin, we’ll pause for a grounding breath and offer a small moment of gratitude for the land, for the season, and for the relationships we continue to tend.
If you feel called, you’re invited to bring a small offering from your home or heart to place gently along the trail: a flower, a stone, water, or your intention.
We’ll move slowly, mostly in silence, allowing space to notice, reflect, and receive.
At a quiet point along the trail, we’ll pause to sit and integrate, checking in with ourselves and the space around us. There will be time to share, if you feel moved to speak.
On the return walk, we’ll open to conversation and connection, walking together in ease.
Whether this trail is new to you or a familiar place, you are welcome to join us as we listen, walk, and deepen our connection with this land and with one another.
We look forward to walking with you!
