Join us at Villa La Jolla Park for a gentle gathering in nature as we continue our practice of weaving with pine needles—an ancestral art rooted in patience, care, and relationship with the land.

This gathering marks our first time weaving together in this park. As we begin building a relationship with this place, we'll take time to arrive with gratitude, curiosity, and care, recognizing that every place has its own stories, rhythms, and more-than-human community.

For generations, communities across the world have woven with natural materials gathered from the earth, creating baskets not only as functional objects, but as expressions of storytelling, relationship, and belonging. Pine needle weaving carries this quiet wisdom forward, reminding us of the beauty found in slowing down and creating with our hands.

Inspired by the practice of nature bathing, we will move slowly and intentionally, allowing the nervous system to soften through sensory connection with the natural world. Beneath the trees, we'll pause from the pace of daily life and attune to the sounds, textures, scents, and rhythms around us.

We'll begin by settling into the space with a simple practice of gratitude and reciprocity, offering our presence and a small gesture of thanks to the land. Through this practice, we remember that relationship with place is something we cultivate over time—with attention, respect, and care.

Working with fallen pine needles gathered from the earth, we'll learn simple weaving techniques while moving with presence and intention. As we weave, each stitch becomes a meditation—an opportunity to listen more deeply: to breath, birdsong, stillness, and the subtle support of the earth beneath us. Through our hands, we remember an older rhythm of living rooted in reciprocity, belonging, and community.

There will be space to pause, reflect, share, and simply be.

You are welcome to bring anything that helps you feel comfortable—a blanket, cushion, water, or journal.

No prior experience is needed. Whether this is your first time weaving or you're returning to continue your practice, you are warmly welcome.

We look forward to weaving with you!
