**\* Hike 1 \~ Day 2**

The Mishe Mokwa Trailhead will lead you to a well-known feature, Sandstone Peak. At 3,111 feet it is the highest point in the Santa Monica Mountains. There is just one problem, it is not sandstone at all - it is an igneous rock called breccia and as you’ll see, a variety of stones were captured and embedded by the magma. One-of-a-kind vistas punctuated by enormous rock outcrops dot this plateau area, and they will lure you to the only Wilderness Area in the Recreation Area.

Route: NoBo from Misha Mokwa Trailhead we can take a side detour to bag Sandstone Peak and maybe Exchange Peak. We will leave the BBT at the Jct of Ray Miller/BBT and connect onto Sycamore Canyon Fire Road. Our thru hike exit will end at Sycamore Canyon Campground. Hike distance is 13.0 - 14.0 miles with Gain 900’ and Loss 3,000’. The drive to the TH is 13.0 miles roughly 20-30 minutes depending on traffic.

Short Hike: Everyone will start at the same time, members wanting a shorter hike controls hike distance and can do an out & back hike. A vehicle will already be at the TH parking lot for their exit.

BRING: Sufficient water, electrolyte, energy snacks, lunch, 1st aid kit, 10+ Essentials, sun protection, jacket/layers, hiking poles (if you use), hiking boots/trail shoes with good traction & support, etc.

Carpool: We will take two vehicles and carpool to the TH.

IMPORTANT NOTE. The campground entrance gate is locked at 10:00p. They keep the exit lane open but it has the metal spikes that will damage your tire if you try to enter the campground after hours via the exit lane.

Please stay home if you are sick or not feeling well.
No Shows frowned upon and will be marked.
