Text Classification for Social Research

Details
This is the kickoff meeting for a project to support the San Diego Taxpayers Association and the Charter Cities Institute by developing a text classification system which will extract sentences from documents and assemble tabular datasets of key information. The San Diego Taxpayers association wants to assess the effectiveness of homeless services in San Diego county by extracting information from homelessness services contracts, and the Charter Cities Institute is interested in efficiently building and organizing a body of research related to Special Economic Zones.
Both clients are currently annotating their documents, and have enough labeled data to begin developing the classification models.
We will talk about the organizations we are supporting, what has been done so far, and how to continue with the work.
