About us
The Vedanta Society of San Diego is a monastery that is a branch center of the Vedanta Society of Southern California.
The Monastery is under the spiritual guidance of the Ramakrishna Order of India.
All centers are independent and self supporting units.
The Monastery holds weekend lectures, meditation and vesper services.
The lectures cover different aspects of the Vedanta philosophy and related subjects.
The lecture usually lasts for one hour followed by a Questions and Answers session.
From time to time, the monastery holds retreats that address special topics. These events may require advance registration and, sometimes, a small fee is requested.

Vedanta and Buddhism: Tools for Trying Times
·OnlineOnlineVedanta Life Academy is excited to present a unique discussion between two experienced practitioners from different traditions. Our discussion, Vedanta and Buddhism: Tools for Trying Times, will address practical challenges which face our participants in today’s complicated world. We will learn tools from both Vedantic and Buddhist traditions for addressing stresses and distresses which currently face us.
To make this relevant and practical, we request that you send us an example of a current challenge you are facing and the questions you have. Examples: Emotional distress, depression, economic or family stress, everyday practical problems. In 3 to 5 sentences, please describe:
- The situation
- The challenge
- Your question
Our speakers will take a variety of these questions as time permits.
