iBeacon, BLE, AltBeacon & More...

iBeacon is Apple's trademark for a new class of low-powered transmitters that notify nearby mobile devices of their presence. These proximity beacons are designed to help smart devices determine their precise location or context in the physical world, but what can you actually do with these?

Daniel Wang will discuss the current state of the proximity beacon movement, from hardware to firmware to support on popular operating systems. Daniel will also talk about his recent successful Kickstarter campaign for a consumer iBeacon finder (XY-findit). If time permits, he will give the first public demonstration of the XY trilateration service. **********
