When it opened in the early 1990's The Eagle Crest Golf Club was one of the new shining stars of Golf in San Diego County. Sadly, when golf play declined in the 2000's Eagle Crest declined with it. While it's only ten minutes past the Vineyard its unique location in the San Pasqual Valley didn't help it coupled with its diverse weather. Now however it's staging a comeback and everyone loves comebacks! While still under the same ownership it's now being managed by Troon Golf. Not the "A" team like at Maderas but a small core group determined to try to restore it to its original luster. I've played there recently and the greens have been restored, the tee boxes were fair, and many of the sand traps have new sand. The fairways do remain very rough but have improved. The great thing about Eagle Crest is the feeling of nature and peace and tranquility you get while playing there. It's not uncommon for an Eagle or Hawk to appear while you are playing. The clubhouse is a portable modular building that does need repairs. Bottom line if you are expecting Avira conditions don't come but if you want a great value $28 ! then yes, this course is for you. Come with low expectations and who knows you might leave impressed. I have book four tee times, enough for 16 golfers, with an option to add more based on demand. First group tees off at 1pm.
