Mythic Monsters and COVID-19

Monsters, demons, and evil beings lurk through out human culture. From sacred stories to folklore these beings exist in the world and within our minds. What do these monsters have to teach us about COIVD-19? How can engaging with monsters help us gain new perspectives on the pandemic that has turned our lives upside down?

This free abbreviated version of the in-person three-hour workshop will explore 2-3 monster myths and provide time for you to engage the monster in your writing, drawing, music making and/or the expression of your choice. Prompts will be provided, but as always, you are free to engage the material in any manner you wish.

This is an online event. Please RSVP to obtain information on joining the meeting. Meeting RSVP will close two hours before the start of the workshop to allow time for workshop instructions to be shared. As this workshop is only one hour long, no attendees will be allow into the workshop after 7:05 p.m. to honor the space created by those who arrived on time.

Karin Zirk, Ph.D., holds a doctorate in mythology and depth psychology and believes in the critical importance of mythology in our culture despite an emphasis on logical reasoning.
