We will be doing a one-way hike from the Daly City BART Station to Beach Chalet at Ocean Beach. The route will be primarily along the beach and timed during the low/minus tide so that we can pass certain spots that are normally under water. There is hardly any elevation gain on this hike, but we will be walking mainly on sand for most of the journey. Along the way we will enjoy ocean waves crashing on the shore and stunning cliffs illuminated by the late afternoon sun. It’s also likely we will come across sand dollars, tidal pools, marine birds and dogs frolicking in the sand.

We *meet at 3:00 pm outside the Daly City BART Station (in front of the ticket machines after you exit the pay gate) and depart promptly at 3:15 am. Arrive on time since we have to depart on schedule to assure safe passage through the narrow beach areas. We begin the trek by heading 1.5 miles west along John Daly Boulevard until we reach Thornton State Beach. From there we work our way down the cliffs to the beach and continue north along the beach until we reach Judah Street. At that point we exit the beach onto the Great Highway and head a few more blocks to Beach Chalet. Along the way there will be breaks for snacks and the restroom.

Bring water, snacks and a flashlight. Dress for the weather.
