We will be doing a moderately strenuous 8.5 mile loop hike in the Marin Headlands from Rodeo Beach to the Point Bonita Lighthouse via Hawk Hill, and then back to the starting point. This hike is for INTERMEDIATE HIKERS only. The route will offer wonderful vistas of the Pacific Coastline and Golden Gate as we traverse through the rolling hills of the Marin Headlands and Point Bonita. The 8.5 mile trek will involve ascending 1,200 feet via steep paths and staircases.

THIS EVENT HAS A WAITLIST. DO NOT SHOW UP FOR IT UNLESS YOU HAVE RECEIVED AN EMAIL SAYING YOU CAN ATTEND. NO CRASHERS AND NO PLUS ONES.

We meet at 9:30 am outside the restroom at the Rodeo Beach parking lot and depart promptly at 9:45 am. We begin the trek by heading east along Mitchell Rd, connecting onto the Miwok Trail and then the Rodeo Valley Trail. From there we turn onto the Smith Trail until it meets the Coastal Trail, which will bring us up to Hawk Hill via ascending several hundred steps. At the top of Hawk Hill we will take a break for snacks/lunch and the restroom while we take in the magnificent views of the San Francisco Bay and the Pacific Ocean. Next, we head west back down Hawk Hill to the Coastal Trail, which will take us onto Conzelman Rd and the Point Bonita Trail leading out to the lighthouse. Although the foot bridge to the lighthouse is still closed, we will can still enjoy the astounding views of the lighthouse standing over the majestic ocean cliffs. Finally, we return to our starting point via Point Bonita Trail to Field Rd to the Coastal Trail. If there is interest, we will meet at a drinking establishment after the hike, most likely in the Richmond district of San Francisco.

Bring plenty of water, snacks and/or lunch if you plan to eat at the top of Hawk Hill. Dress for the weather, as it can be unpredictable at times.
