About Riaz Taplin
Riaz Taplin is a second-generation real estate entrepreneur, developer, and asset manager who has worked in the industry his entire life. Coming from an established real estate family, Riaz detoured his career to found a design/build firm that plays by a new set of rules. He founded the firm by developing over 50 ultra-luxury residences in the Bay Area. Upon completion of his final ultra-luxury project, Riaz was able to re-focus his vision on creating workforce housing for Oakland’s underserved middle-market, an oft-neglected demographic. As principal and founder of Riaz Capital, Taplin oversees the vertically integrated workforce housing developer with a team of over sixty professionals and over 1,500 residences. Taplin is a board member of the Oakland Promise, urban planning think tank SPUR, and co-chair of the American India Foundation SF Bay Area board. He earned a B.A. in Economic History from the London School of Economics.
