Virtual Ukulele Rebellion #106! Celebrating Oscar-Winning Songs and Neil Sedaka
Details
March is Academy Award month, so lets celebrate by playing songs that have WON the Academy Award for Best Original Song.
Here's a link to Wikipedia's Best Original Song page. It lists every song that has been nominated for an Academy Award by year, and it indicates which songs won the award. Please pick songs to lead only from those songs that have WON the Academy Award for Best Original Song.

Also, singer-songwriter Neil Sedaka died on February 27, so let’s play songs that were written or co-written by him to remember his vast contributions to the world of music and the soundtracks of our lives.
We'll play music from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm Pacific Standard Time.
To address some Zoom-bombing at our March and October 2025 Zoom meetups, I will be looking at and implementing additional security procedures for access to Zoom. The Zoom link will appear on this page when you RSVP. If Zoom asks for a passcode, the passcode is Rebellion. The passcode is case-sensitive.
If you'd like to lead a song, please let me know, either by posting here in the comments or by email, which song(s) you would like to lead. The cut-off time for requesting to lead a song is THE TUESDAY BEFORE THE MEETING (for this meeting, Tuesday March 17), even if you're going to be leading a song from one of the Daily Ukulele books or the Groovy Songbook. I'll post a songlist here in advance of our meeting.
IF YOU'D LIKE TO LEAD A SONG USING SHEET MUSIC OR A CHORD CHART THAT ISN'T IN THE YELLOW BOOK, THE BLUE BOOK, OR THE GROOVY SONGBOOK, PLEASE EMAIL THE DOCUMENT TO ME IN DIGITAL FORMAT IN ADVANCE SO THAT I CAN UPLOAD IT TO DROPBOX AND POST IT ON THE SCREEN FOR OTHERS.
PLEASE NOTE: To accommodate all first song requests, we may not have time to get to all second (or third) song requests. When asking to lead more than one song, please indicate your first and second choices to ensure that, if we can't get to your second request, the song you'd most like to lead is included in that evening's song list. Thank you in advance for your willingness to lead songs and your understanding about how the song list for each meeting is prepared.
You can reach me by email at sfukerebellion@yahoo.com
