Camping - Santa Cruz Henry Cowell State Park

Oh, how I ❤️ Santa Cruz!!
This is a very popular 3 night camp/hiking trip and will be limited to 12 adventurers or depending on carpools, possibly more. We will be staying at the campground in the Santa Cruz Mountains for 3 summer nights. I have already booked 4 sites (#90, #91, #92 & #93). I would say that 3 tents can usually fit on a site comfortably. Each site includes (1) vehicle in cost and an extra fee for additional cars, $10 PER NIGHT. I recommend splitting this cost w/ shared campers to be fair.

We will be hiking both Friday & Saturday and every attendee is expected to hike w/ group both days, as this is a hiking group. Please join if in good health, physically & mentally and able to hike 7-10 miles.

Everyone will be responsible for there own food but our plan will be to go out to an early dinner after our Saturday hike. We will see how everyone feels about that.

ARRIVAL: We should arrive after the check-in time of 2 pm. We will set up camp, wait for most to arrive, settle in and have a nice leisure evening or maybe.....a short sunset hike near camp or a walk on the beach?

FRIDAY plan: Wake-up and make your breakfast before heading out for the day. We will drive to Aptos and hike approx 10 miles (1800 elv)) in the Forest of Nisene Marks, starting at the Loma Prieta trailhead. 🌲 It is beautiful and a moderate-hard hike. Wear comfortable hiking shoes. We will return to camp for some rest and free time to do as you choose before making our dinners. Our evenings always consist of a campfire with s'mores/snacks and I recommend you bring your beverage of choice. Fun!!

SATURDAY plans: Wake-up, eat breakfast and head out for our near hike, starting from Henry Cowell campgrounds. Our trailhead will be Eagle Creek and our approx 7 mile (1300 elv) loop hike will end w/ the River trail. This will lead us back to camp to rest and then the plan will be to go out for a casual early dinner (No cooking, yea!), return and enjoy our final night of campfire, s'mores & merriment w/ friends!

-All hiking gear
-Overnight essentials

-This is an ADULT ONLY trip w/ NO GUESTS ALLOWED at this time due to limited space.

*COST- $40 PER PERSON- whether 2 or 3 nights.

CARPOOLING highly recommended: If you would prefer to carpool w/ someone or would like to volunteer to drive.... please post and hopefully you will get a response. Drivers are always appreciated & compensated at drivers discretion. Only 2 vehicles per site. Again, only (1) vehicle included in cost. There is overflow parking for a small fee. ($10) per night.
