What we’re about
WELCOME!
We are so glad you found us!
Who:
This MeetUp is a diverse group of women. All women are welcome. We welcome all who are curious about poetry, are just entering into the world of poetry, have an academic interest, or write prolifically themselves. If you are new to poetry, we welcome you and appreciate your courage to dive into something new.
What we are here for:
We come together to share the poetry that moves us, makes us laugh, tells a story (maybe our own), helps us learn, makes us feel seen, makes us cry, and encourages us to be carefree & silly. We use this time not only to share our knowledge, love, or plain curiosity about poetry, but also to connect with one another in a day and age when opportunities for community connection are dwindling.
Monthly Themes:
Occasionally, we will post a poetic theme for the month. It is only an invitation and not a requirement. You may discover poems written and published by authors with this theme, or engage in the art of writing using the suggested prompt prior to the MeetUp, and bring either to share with the group.
What You Will Be Doing:
You can come to listen, share your own poetry, engage in thought-provoking discussion, or share poetry written by poets that you love. This is the perfect space to engage with other like-minded women who wish to submerge themselves in the beauty and art of poetry. Come and share the love of verse with us. Let us uplift each other and be inspired through the magic of poetry!
Personal Snacks or Non-Alcoholic Beverages:
You are more than welcome to bring a snack or food, along with a non-alcoholic beverage, for yourself during our Meet-Up. This group voted against any group collaboration or sharing of food or drink, but please feel free to bring what you need to nourish yourself.
The location we meet does not allow Alcoholic Beverages on the campus. Please refrain from bringing alcohol to this MeetUp. Thank you for your understanding.
A Word on Financial Contributions:
We will never email anyone for any monetary payment or contribution.
We do not require a fee to attend; however, we will happily accept donations to help cover the nominal Meet-Up costs. If you would like, consider bringing a couple of dollars to donate on the nights you attend, but your presence is more important to us than a financial contribution.

This is an incredible opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals, immerse yourself in the world of poetry, and support the immense talent within our community.
Join us as we uplift and empower one another through the universal language of poetry.
IT'S IN THE DETAILS
What to bring:
BRING any poetry you would like to share aloud. This month, we have a suggested theme, which is just an invitation and not a requirement; any poetry may be shared. You are free to bring your own non-alcoholic beverage or snack. The group voted not to provide these items, but each could bring their own.
Inspiration:
We will post poetry writing prompts for the month that may inspire your first poem or your billionth poem. Poetry that is funny, based on true stories, word play, emotional, dim or bright, rhyming or not, long or short…. Give it a go.
Our Theme this month:
INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY 2026
What we will do:
Each person who wishes can share their selection and any thoughts about their pieces, such as why they like them or what inspired them. Then, we will open it up for supportive discussion from the “I” & “and” perspectives. Each person can share, and we would like to respect the time in order to give everyone who wishes a chance to speak.
What to share in the discussion:
Anything you feel comfortable sharing. These could be the feelings, meanings, or questions that arise for you. It could be the reason why you resonate with a piece, including a personal experience or memory. Also, you may have insights into the writing, such as the historical context of its composition, the author, or other interesting details. The goal is to have an engaging, supportive discussion. This is not a critique environment. All discussions are intended to explore how the art shared during the event makes us feel and to provide support and encouragement to all of our authors who wish to breathe life into the words they have shared as a gift to our ears.1 attendee
