Welcome to the San Antonio Hill Country Hikers. We enjoy nature for fitness and fun. This group strives to provide a welcoming atmosphere to everyone. Please show up with a friendly and positive attitude. Some of life's best paths are dirt!

Group rules:

1. Participation in group activities is done at your own risk.

2. Before you RSVP for an event, please read the event description carefully. It will include important specifics regarding location, pace, distance and time.

3. Should you have any questions about a particular event, feel free to contact the event organizer. Be sure to specify which event you are inquiring about.

4. If you have RSVP'd to an event and plans change please update your RSVP

5. Repeated no shows or extended lack of participation will be cause for removal from the group.

6. Please show up with a friendly and positive attitude, we promise that we will too!

7. A Clear Profile Picture is Required: We require that you maintain a clear profile picture that shows your face so that our organizers can easily recognize you.

Hike details:

We will meet at the pavilion next to the parking lot and hit the trail at 8:00am sharp

This will be a MODERATELY paced Hike (around 3miles/hr) for about 5.6 miles on the perimeter trails.

Our typical route is starting on the Entry Trail - then all lefts - Main Loop - Vista Loop - Restoration trail - Vista Loop - Bosque Trail - Fern Del - Juniper Ridge - Main Loop - Entry Trail

Trails are rocky, sometimes slippery with a few steep inclines.

We can go to the Leon Springs Las Palapas after for brunch

Gorge Park Entrance Address is located at 16029 South Access Rd., Canyon Lake, TX 78133. Please plan to arrive 15 minutes prior to your tour’s scheduled start time.

### An adventure more than 110-million years into the past.

The Canyon Lake Gorge was carved by the flood of 2002 when more than 67,000 cubic feet of water per second flowed over the spillway of Canyon Lake, marking the first time the spillway was used since the Canyon Lake reservoir was completed in 1964. The power of water sliced open the ground, exposing more than 110-million-year-old cretaceous limestone.

Public Guided Tour - Average Duration: 2 Hours
$20.00 per person; up to 10 participants. Ages 7 and up.
TRAIL RATING: MODERATE
A hike through the Gorge with an experienced guide, highlighting geological and aquatic features (fossils, dinosaur tracks, aquifer channels, and waterfalls). Approximately 1.25 miles. Several stopping points for photos and educational information.

No dogs area allowed on the trails we will be hiking on.

We'll meet at the parking area of the Bauer Unit - please proceed through the gate off of Acker Road, use the gate code on the keypad and go to the parking area.

We will hit the trail by 8:10 am and do a MODERATELY paced hike (around 3miles/hr) for about 8 miles.

Directions: From I10W: take exit 550 Ralph Fair Rd (FM3351), go about 15 miles and turn right on Edge Falls Road. Continue for 2.4 miles and turn right on Acker Road. Go 2.2 miles to entrance. Entrance is gated - use code on keypad to open gate and drive to parking area.

From 281: take 46W then turn right on 3351, go about 3.6 miles and turn right on Edge Falls Road. Continue for 2.4 miles and turn right on Acker Road. Go 2.2 miles to entrance. Entrance is gated - use code on keypad to open gate and drive to parking area.

The Bauer Unit is part of Guadalupe River State Park but has it's own entrance on the north side of the river.

YOU are responsible for assessing your own fitness level and to have an exit plan if you cannot keep up with the group
