Saturday Hike Sweetwater Preserve-National Public Lands Day

Description: This will be ~4.0-mile loop hike, adding the portion of Gainesville Hawthorne Trail (GHT)to Sweetwater Overlook on Paynes Prairie and then return to SE 16th Ave trailhead. “The preserve enables hikers to explore eight different habitats along the forested bluffs above Paynes Prairie.” Lovely quiet, green forested trail.

General Information: No Fee. Dress to comfort and bring water/snack per preference. Periodic rest stops to admire the flora and fauna.
Slight elevation changes, exposed roots, may be wet in parts, sandy grounds in upper elevations, mostly shady, hopefully wildlife and blooming wildflowers. Hiking hats/poles and Bug Spray advised.
Bathrooms: Port a pot at Boulware Springs GHT trailhead.
Dogs allowed: Not for our hike.
