Blues Creek Ravine Preserve Hike
Location: Blues Creek Ravine Preserve, 6710 NW 69th Ave, Gainesville, FL
Leader: Maria Fiedler.
Description: This will be a relaxed ~2.5-mile loop hike. We may increase this to ~3.5 miles if the group agrees, by repeating the back loop. Quiet, calm and serene woods, “conserved in 2002, drainage basin and its tributaries, Ravine features steeply incised stream banks that create dramatic a setting and unique seepage slopes”.
“No tree has been harvested since early 1980’s, planned management activities are intended to safeguard the ecological integrity pf site and enhance conditions for maintaining biological diversity of both flora and fauna”, ACT, Alachua County Trust.
Directions: Head west from NW 43rd St on NW 53rd Ave, Millhopper Road, to NW 71st ST. Right turn on NW 71 St and after crossing the creek, park along the grassy shoulder on left side of the road. We will meet there, intersecting at NW 69th Ave, unpaved road leading to the Ravine entrance, less than ~1/4 mile ahead.
General Information: Dress to comfort and bring water/snack per preference.
Optional: Lunch at Bageland or Piesanos afterwards.
Bathrooms: No
Dogs allowed: Well trained, friendly, behaved dogs on leash, held by owner.
